Dewey Lester & The 6:03, aka singer/guitarist Kevin McGachy and guitarist Craig McNally, two longtime musical compadres who first bonded over thirty years ago through a shared love of 60s freakbeat, northern soul and mod sounds.
McGachy adopts the alias of Dewey Lester to front a suite of country psych songs, with McNally co-starring as The 6:03, the Sundance Kid to Dewey’s Butch Cassidy.
Their debut album Summer ’72 traces Dewey’s life story and is the culmination of a 12-year labour of love, which is far from laborious. This is a sumptuous sunshiney love letter from one west coast to another, a Caledonia-to-California road trip heading from Buffalo Springfield to Todd Rundgren.
